Abortion (Yeah, I’m going there today.) is a hot button issue for too many reasons. Personally, I don’t understand why it ever was considered a good thing to begin with, but that’s just my opinion.
I reposted the following photo on Facebook last week to commemorate the anniversary of Roe v Wade (I sure wish they had used another name for that decision). Needless to say I received some interesting comments about it. I now know how to delete comments.

One of the first to comment was a woman. I quickly determined I wasn’t going to change her mind so I told her she was misguided. She thanked me for being civil and stopped that thread.
One man was quite violent with his comments. I felt sorry for his lack of sensitivity toward another human being. I prayed about how to respond. Others chimed in with their reactions to him. That only added gasoline to the fire. That’s when I learn how to delete comments.
Some folks are skewed about which political party is to blame for this mess. Others get their definitions for when life is legal from insurance companies and even the church, which apparently doesn’t permit burial of stillborn babies.
Yeah, it was more than I bargained for. But, since I opened that door I decided I might as well walk all the way through it and tell y’all where I stand on this divisive issue. This blog post will be too short to address every aspect of this issue but it’s a start.
Being born a Webster let’s begin with a definition. What is abortion?
Abortion is ending a pregnancy before a baby is born.
I think that’s a fair definition to begin this post with. Of course some will argue that it’s not a baby, but it would be if it was born. That’s why I said it this way.
Of course that’s the safe definition. It’s the groundwork to begin with.
I will never understand why a civilized society thinks this is a good thing but it is in too many countries.
I want to know why we don’t educate young people about being responsible for their actions. Pregnancies don’t just happen. It takes two people in an intimate arrangement. That’s how sperm and egg come together most of the time.
This arrangement is best saved for married couples who decide to rear the next generation of responsible citizens. But since too many couples are recreationally having intercourse they end up with this kid they didn’t plan on and don’t really want. That’s where they get directed to end the pregnancy by any means possible.
This is one of the biggest challenges facing society today. The family unit has been broken down. Marriages don’t last, if they even began. Babies are considered as disposable as the relationship that began this life to begin with.
Yes, a pregnancy is the coming together of a sperm and egg to begin a new life. That’s my definition of a pregnancy.
Therefore the ending of a pregnancy is the murder of a young human being’s life.
Let’s stop right here so I can make one point extremely plain. I am NOT saying every woman who has ever had an abortion, or will have one, is a murderer. That’s the quick conclusion too many folks jump to. Most of these women are pawns in a much larger game of chess. If anyone is to wear the badge of a murderer it’s the politicians who insist this killing is permissible and the medical practitioners who perform this atrocity.
Most of these women who decide to take this option have been reared in less than ideal families. They haven’t experienced true love from both parents who guide them along life’s journey. Therefore when they become old enough to share their body with a man they do it to experience the only form of love they know of. Now they have a consequence for this action.
Now the semantics begin. This is where a lot of heat gets wasted based on opinions and misconceptions. Definitions are tricky that way.
The core issue is who, exactly, determines when a life begins? It isn’t politicians nor insurance companies nor church leaders. God is the only One who decides when a sperm and egg will unite to begin a new life.
A lot of people will vehemently disagree with me here. I’m fine with that. I don’t answer to them in the end. I have to answer to God when the time comes for me to see Him face to face.
I would rather be the only person on God’s side, if that’s the way this debate goes, than to be popular with a potential majority of folks.
Okay, so, why are so many people in favor of abortions anyway?
Some have a financial interest in the process, but I think that’s a minority of folks.
I think the main reason people want abortions goes all the way back to the Garden of Eden. Do you remember what Satan told Eve?
“You can be like God.”
That’s the fundamental core of the issue. Throughout all human existence the goal has always been to undermine God’s authority.
The Bible is a magnificent history book showing this occurring in real time.
Adam and Eve hide their nakedness. Cain kills Abel. Joseph gets sold by his brothers. Jesus gets killed by the religious leaders of His day by order of the Romans.
Even today the most hated nation on the planet is Israel, God’s chosen people. Why? Satan doesn’t want God to win.
When Satan tempted Jesus he showed all the kingdoms of the world to God’s Son and promised them to Jesus if He would bow down to Satan.
Jesus never once told Satan those kingdoms didn’t belong to Satan. Worldly power has been granted to Satan now, but in the end God’s kingdom will be the one that lasts forever.
The Egyptians attempted to stop a deliverer from being born by killing the Hebrew boys as they were born. Herod tried to finish off the Messiah by killing all the boys in Bethlehem.
Child murder is nothing new to Satan.
Yes, I believe abortion is murder. Just because someone doesn’t breathe air doesn’t make them disposable.
It’s the responsibility of God’s spiritual children, born-again believers, to speak up for these little people who can’t speak for themselves.
An interesting anniversary occurred recently. 30 years ago Ted Bundy was executed. Some folks will be uncomfortable with what I’m about to write but I can’t wait to see Ted in Heaven someday.
Yeah, the man who ended the lives of so many grown adults needed to be stopped before he continued his actions. The law of that day made executions a viable option. I’m not condoning his death the way it occurred.
But something interesting happened before the end of Ted’s earthly life. He accepted Jesus’ death and resurrection as his own. A new life began that day. That’s the way God works.
God offers the same grace to every woman who had an abortion and every person who has had any opportunity to make these events possible.
I won’t say Ted deserved to go to heaven after he died, but my opinion doesn’t matter. I wasn’t given the responsibility of that decision. It’s God’s heaven so only He decides who gets in there. His ways are not my ways.
You see? We’re back to God having the supreme authority in everything.
Jesus’ death wasn’t accidental. It was planned before even Satan was created. It was essential in the battle for lives before any life began.
When God is kept on His throne everything falls into place. It’s when someone tries to knock Him off that disasters like abortions and other murders take place.
I like to think of the Bible as God’s owner’s manual for His creatures to live by. That’s why it has endured for as many centuries as it has.
The sins listed in the early parts of human history are still sins today. God’s grace is granted to those who commit their future to the unseen God of the Bible based on Jesus’ sacrifice.
You can disagree with that. You have that right. I’ll pray you see God’s light while you still can. The darkness is soon to end. That’s why this battle is getting so heated.
The book of Revelation is about to be lived out, as well as other prophesies. I’d be extremely worried if I didn’t believe that.
Jesus is coming back. Trust me, you don’t want to be on His bad side when He does show Himself to everybody.
Unfortunately, the killing of unborn humans will continue. My tiny blog won’t put a stop to that.
I simply want to make it clear to everyone what side of the issue I stand on.
I’ll see you later. Wade
