I’m Going to Prison…YIKES!

As a Christian you do your best to stay out of trouble. But you also want to do all you can to please God.

Sometimes doing the right thing can land you in jail for the right reasons.

I guess this all started over a year ago when Marcia said she might want to buy 150 of my prayer books for an outreach her son was leading. She mentioned she wanted to sponsor me so I could attend, too.

I had never heard of Tres Dias until that time. Now it’s landing me in a high security lockup in Texas.

Marcia’s son did decide to give my book of prayers away to all who attended the weekend event. I was thrilled, so was my budget.

Tres Dias is a time intense 72 hour long immersion into walking the Christian life well. We didn’t get much spare time while we were there.

The introvert in me squirmed over that detail I wasn’t told about before hand.

The main goal seems to be to grow Christians by getting them involved at different levels during several of these events.

Frankly, I felt suffocated by the arrangement. But, I also knew I was there for a specific reason.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago during the monthly Missional Living meeting at Stonebriar Community Church.

They put on a lunch for all in attendance while they tell us how we can get involved in various areas of ministry the church is involved with.

We usually get filled in about things that occurred the previous month then we’re told about what’s coming up this month.

Sometimes a guest comes in to talk about a ministry activity that needs help.

A group came in talking about their ministry called Kairos. They explained there are two words for time in Greek.

Chronos time is calendar time. It’s used to mark off minutes, hours and days.

Kairos time is God’s special time to get the attention of folks to hear about His gift of love given on Calvary.

They go into the highest security prisons to reach the worst of the worst for Jesus. They ask the wardens for the leaders so they can spread the gospel to other prisoners when they go back to their cells.

They then said because of the intensity of the outreach they want people who have gone through Tres Dias or a similar training.

As soon as they said that I didn’t even need to hear the voice of God to know why I was at Tres Dias last April.

I bring this up now because this coming Saturday begins the training and planning for the next event coming up in May.

I can use all the prayer support I can get ahold of to prepare me for this incredible opportunity to be used by God.

To say this will stretch me is a gross understatement.

Every other Saturday the team will meet to work out the details.

I’ll get another background check to clear me for this high security detail.

Other than that my writer’s imagination has gone into overdrive as to what might happen.

I know God has all the details worked out. His kingdom needs these men in it, too.

I also know that if I had been born into the same environment they grew up in I could be the one locked up waiting to hear the good news.

Please join me by praying for me and the team.

There’s nothing like storming the gates of Hell to reach the lost.

This shy introvert just about fainted as he typed that sentence.

I’ll see you later.   Wade

I'm a truck driver turned writer. My writing drives people to Jesus. I love sunsets/sunrises, dark chocolate, coffee, cats and dogs (as long as their owners pick up after them) and solitude. My relationship with God through Jesus Christ is most important to me, not a religion. This writing gig is all God's idea. I only wish to bring more attention to Jesus with it.
