Modern technology has made life far from simple these days in my humble opinion. Most days I wish I could go back to not needing a computer. Last week I was forced into that mode.
It began as a basic updating of my security account. The initial transaction was accomplished without a hitch.
The problem commenced when I called back to get some software working that was installed on my laptop.
I granted remote access to the nice fella on the security company’s side of things. This was mandatory.
The very first thing he did froze my computer. As far as we could determine my computer was half stuck on airplane mode. I couldn’t unstuck it from this setting. It stunk.
I wasn’t able to get wi-fi access back so the remote option wasn’t an option anymore. We were stuck…stinking stuck.
The only option was resetting my seven year old computer to its original settings. It took some doing for him to remember what I needed to do but we got it to that point, almost.
I had to back up my files so I did…to a point. The next hurdle required me to load all of my old files onto a little USB thumb drive dealy whopper.
I went to the store and bought one big enough to accomplish this task only to not get my computer to save it. It seemed to still be stuck or more likely demon possessed.
What this meant was I would be without my computer for the rest of the week because I had to go to work. I ran out of time to accomplish the unaccomplishable.
On Saturday afternoon I decided to try it all again. Somehow I was able to retrace my steps to get the files ready for backing up on the thing a ma jiggy.
This time it accepted the command to load my files off my computer before I made it like it was when I bought it. I guess the demon moved on to someone else’s computer while I was driving my life away.
I called the security company back up hoping someone would be on duty. Somehow someone was.
He spent the rest of Saturday getting my computer ready to update to Windows 10. On Sunday he finished that and loaded my saved files back on my computer.
I don’t think he considers himself a guardian angel but I almost do.
A few days lost that would have been no big deal except I now have someone asking for a mobile app to be built by my team. This requires me to be able to fine the correct forms and files to get filled out before I can accept payment.
Why do these things all happen at once?
Now that I’m back in the 21st century I can move on with my life, I hope.
One thing I did do while my computer was frozen stuck was watch some movies I have.
One of those movies was about Beatrix Potter, the Peter Rabbit author. She lived over 100 years ago. Horse and buggy days with only paper written letters as long distance communication.
There were still complications back in that day…and demons fighting guardian angels.
I guess we’ll always have problems like Jesus said we would.
Prayers to heaven have always been the best means of communication to God. He is the great problem solver.
I sleep well knowing that fact.
I’ll see you later. Wade
