Did you miss it this time around?
Were you so early for church you thought it must be a weekday?
Yeah, that pesky time change has a way of sneaking up on us all. If you failed to set your clocks back an hour you found yourself an hour ahead of everyone else for a change. You’re probably tempted to try to stay that way. Don’t.
We supposedly get an extra hour of sleep on the night this occurs…except for those of us who had to work through the night. I hope I didn’t lose an hour of paid work because of it.
Some well-meaning government folks thought this was a good idea some time ago. Some other government scally-wags have been tampering with the original timeframe for these clock adjustments just to throw us all off as to when we’re supposed to try to keep up with the Jonses and everyone else who remembered to switch their time to stay updated.
Yeah, that sentence was extra long on purpose. It’s my way of ranting without yelling.
Without changing the subject too much, have you ever been to Israel?
There are quite a few people in my church who lead trips to Israel. I still haven’t been able to afford the journey on my truck driving wages…especially when I apparently lost an hour of pay…nevermind.
God has come up with a solution I can afford. It’s quite ingenious, but then again, what else would you expect from the Creator of the universe?
Since I can’t go to Israel God brought Israel to Texas.
Not just any Israel, either, but first century, Bible time Israel. I’m talking about the ultimate time travel now.
You see, the folks who go to Israel get to experience the land of the Bible. With about two centuries having passed since Jesus walked this earth many things have changed.
But, there’s a unique television series being made about people who were affected by Jesus directly. They’re filming the first four episodes near Ft Worth, Texas.
The series is called The Chosen. They made a short pilot and aired it online about a year ago. They were looking for people to invest in the making of this series so they could make it happen.
I still had some inheritance money from the sale of the smallest parcel of land from the family farm in Michigan. I scrounged together $1,000 to become one of the first investors.
They later designed some incentives to entice more folks to invest. Anyone who gives $1,000 has the chance to appear as an extra in the recording of the show. They made these retroactive to all who gave before these came out.
I’ve been in touch with The Chosen folks since then. On November 27th I get to wear Bible time clothes and experience the Bible first hand.
I’ve met some of the Bible people in my mind several times. When I began writing devotional posts here for the Christmas season seven years ago I would sit down and read the section of scripture I was going to write about every morning as I ate my first meal of the day.
I had breakfast with Zacharias and Elizabeth; Joseph and Mary; Simeon and Anna; the shepherds and the wisemen. It was quite an experience.
I don’t know what scenes they’ll be filming on the day I go to the set to record. I don’t know if any part of me will be shone after all of the editing is finished. I don’t care about any of that.
This isn’t about me getting “discovered” to advance my career.
I get to wear first century clothes and mingle with others doing the same thing.
This will be as close to me being able to experience the Bible firsthand as anything I can ever hope to experience.
Oh yeah, I’m excited about this.
I’m growing my beard out to fit in as best I can. I want this to be as real as possible.
I have no idea what plans God has for me after this event. I have some suspicions, a writer’s mind works that way.
Will there be a movie made from a book I write?
I’ve always thought the very first book I’m still writing would make a great TV series someday.
Will I play some of the characters I’m writing in my books someday?
I don’t know. I’m just taking life one opportunity at a time.
I kinda think my snowball is setting at the top of the proverbial hill and starting to roll down.
I can’t wait to see what happens next to build God’s kingdom, not mine.
Here’s the link to the project. You can watch the pilot episode and back this effort, too.

The short video with the shepherd was made on a farm in Iowa with next to no budget. Over five million dollars has been raised so far to ensure the other episodes will be even higher quality.
This will definitely touch hearts and build God’s kingdom.
Please pray for this and my small part in it.
Then pray about getting involved in a financial way if God so leads you.
I’ll see you later. Wade
