What is a Mom?

What is a Mom?

Mom is a woman who gives people birth

Her belly is stretched destroying her girth

She sleeps very little because of small cries

You can tell it from the bags under her eyes

Mom puts food in the top side of her children

Then cleans up messes that occur in the bottom

Disposable diapers are a God-send you see

Cuz she’s always behind in doing laundry

She must treat it right or get static shocks

It’s bad enough she always loses socks

She swears next time she’s just gonna throw

That outfit her child is sure to outgrow

Yet another trip to the grocery is sure

To make still more meals  no matter how poor

Mom comforts the sick, reads stories to calm

Frightened kids who regret the coming strong storm

She gives the best hugs and laughs at our jokes

She hangs up our picture of the cat wearing clothes

Mom helps us with science, English and math

Then she treats herself to a hot bubble bath

She takes us to practices and cheers as we play

No matter the sport nor even the time of day

If she’s godly she tells you of Jesus God’s Son

And how He died for your sins yes every one

She’ll make sure you come to accept God’s gift

Of grace never-ending and love that won’t quit

She does this to know you’re in heaven with her

Forever and ever and ever for sure

A mom’s love won’t stop when she leaves this life

She’ll wait for you with Jesus at her side

Your life may have started within her small womb

But it won’t end when you’re in a cold tomb

Mom’s heart is too large to stop loving you ever

That’s why she’ll wait for you in heaven.

I'm a truck driver turned writer. My writing drives people to Jesus. I love sunsets/sunrises, dark chocolate, coffee, cats and dogs (as long as their owners pick up after them) and solitude. My relationship with God through Jesus Christ is most important to me, not a religion. This writing gig is all God's idea. I only wish to bring more attention to Jesus with it.
