Here’s the back cover copy:

What is prayer? Prayer is a conversation with God.
What does God expect in your prayer? God wants you to pour out your heart to Him.

These prayers are not meant to be memorized, but experienced. This collection of prayers began as a weekly offering to the American Christian Fiction Writers’ children’s fiction email loop. 100 PRAYERS OF A WRITER combines Wade Webster’s two greatest passions: talking to his Heavenly Father and writing. If your prayer life needs a boost, these prayers will give you the spiritual lift you’re looking for. Experience a depth and honesty that only comes from a lifetime walk with God through Jesus Christ. Although these prayers were originally written to writers, everybody will grow in their understanding of their relationship with the Creator of the universe. People curious about how Christians approach God will have their eyes opened to what makes us tick. Enter the throne room of God as Jesus tells us to–as little children. Leave the same throne room with renewed hope and encouragement. Christianity wasn’t meant to be a rote religion, but a living relationship. Your Father longs for your attention.

I never planned on turning these weekly prayers into a book when I began this journey. Then again, I never planned on writing weekly prayers.

When I told God I wanted Him to use me anyway He saw fit I didn’t expect a straight path to follow. He hasn’t disappointed me yet.

After the door closed for me to give public prayers for the adult fellowship at the church I attend another opened for these prayers to be written. When the feedback was so encouraging I knew I needed to make them available to a larger audience. After two years that door closed, but not before these 100 prayers were birthed.

This book is not intended to be read in one sitting. It’s designed to be read slowly and deliberately, one prayer at a time. Feel free to concentrate on one prayer each day for an entire week. Keep a journal to record your thoughts and feelings as you work through these prayers. Write down what you’re going through in your life at the time. The next time you go through this book you’ll be surprised how much closer to God you’ve grown.

A matching journal is available here, but you can use any notebook you have available.

I pray your walk with God deepens as you practice this habit of talking to your heavenly Father on an intimate level. That’s what life is all about. It’s why Jesus came to earth and gave His life on the cross, then rose from the grave on His own power. If you’re unsure whether you’ve taken full advantage of God’s offer of eternal life made by Jesus click on the tab at the top of the page titled Begin Your Relationship With Jesus Christ. I walk you through the steps needed to cross from an eternity in hell to a forever home in heaven.

These prayers don’t need to be read in the order they’re written. Use the topics index at the back of the book to find a subject you’re dealing with now. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you work through that prayer.

You can also read a chapter out of sequence. If you’re going through a Bible study on the Fruit of the Spirit you can start with that chapter to enrich your experience with that Bible passage.

In Matthew 18:1-5 Jesus answers the disciples’ question about who the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is. Jesus is quick to pull a child to Himself and declare that we must come to God as a child. That’s the approach most of these prayers employ.

I did my best to keep a balance of reverence and awe for God in these prayers along with a familiarity with our heavenly Father that God expects. If those seem like foreign concepts to you don’t worry. It’s a complicated relationship we have with the Creator of the universe.
